Driving progress with Alpiq’s sustainability project

At Alpiq, our journey towards sustainability is both gradual and ambitious. We understand that the actions we take today and the measures we monitor are powerful steps towards a sustainable future.

We have launched several projects designed to bring comprehensive transparency across all environment, social and governance (ESG) dimensions at the group level. Explore these initiatives below.

Strengthening Alpiq's resilience to climate change

Alpiq's Climate Reporting project evaluates climate risks, focusing on both physical and transition risks. For the physical risks, the impact of various climate hazards on our assets is assessed under different temperature scenarios.

Additionally, we analyse risks pertaining to policy, market or technological developments to determine the risks associated with the transition to a low-carbon economy. These insights are integrated into our risk management system and financial model, strengthening our resilience and ensuring we are prepared for future climate challenges.

Alpiq's commitment to ethical sourcing

In compliance with the Swiss regulation, Alpiq initiated a project to review its supply chain due diligence process and Supplier Code of Conduct.

This project extends the "Know Your Counterparty" process, which entails an adverse media check of business partners, to a broader pool of Alpiq's suppliers. Additionally, all suppliers must confirm their adherence to the newly revised Supplier Code of Conduct.

Alpiq's journey towards CSRD compliance

Alpiq is subject to the European Union's new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and we are aiming to publish our first CSRD-compliant report by the end of 2025.

Through our Double Materiality Assessment, we have identified 14 key sustainability topics essential to our business. In addition to disclosing these topics, the CSRD requires Alpiq to integrate them into our corporate strategy and business model. In this context, we are currently also developing specific policies, actions, targets and metrics for our key topics. This regulation triggers a shift from reporting past performance to actively managing sustainability issues.

At Alpiq, we are committed to integrating sustainability into our core operations, ensuring our business contributes positively to the world.
