We are excited to introduce our Energy Trading Graduate Program. This 18-month journey is designed to immerse you in the fast-paced and dynamic world of energy trading. You will rotate through 3 exciting assignments, contributing to the success of Alpiq’s trading activities while gaining valuable insights into our front desks and key support functions. Your journey will start in October 2025.
Alpiq is at the forefront of the energy transition, with a portfolio that includes flexible electricity and gas assets as well as renewables. Our trading division is central to managing the risks and opportunities of this transition, and you will be part of the action.
Your main responsibilities
3 exciting rotations: You will rotate through 3 assignments, each in a different trading department, including Asset Trading, Intraday, Gas Trading, Proprietary Trading, Structuring Energy Management, and Quant & Market Analysis. The program is designed to give you broad exposure to both trading and its key support functions.
Mentorship & Buddy Support: A dedicated mentor from the management team will guide and coach you throughout your 18-month journey. In addition, a buddy from our growing network of young talent will provide hands-on support & help you integrate smoothly into the team.
Real impact: In your assignments, you will support day-to-day trading operations and contribute to ongoing improvements and projects that drive the business forward.

Your profile
- Swiss or EU passport (unfortunately we cannot sponsor non-EU Visas for this role).
- Master's degree in financial engineering, mathematics, computer science, data science, physics, energy engineering, finance, or a related field.
- Graduate by the program start date (October 2025).
- A strong passion for the energy sector and a desire to expand your knowledge.
- International mindset, excellent communication skills, analytical thinking and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Determination, resilience, and team spirit will make you succeed in this role.
- Being empathetic, results-oriented, and flexible are your additional assets.
- Availability to work in Olten or Lausanne (Hybrid).
- Full proficiency in English, additional languages (French, German, others) are an energy plus.
