The Murkart run-of-river power plant, which is located on the River Murg upstream from the town of Frauenfeld and is owned by Isento AG, was completely refurbished in 2008 following a fire. Currently, it provides electricity for more than 330 households in the region. A fish ladder at the weir allows fish to migrate upstream in the Murg. By creating natural habitats (biotopes) in the vicinity of the weir, Alpiq made a major contribution towards the environmental revaluation of the power station's surrounding area.
