Lausanne – Alpiq invests in its origination business in the Nordic countries as part of its corporate strategy: Alpiq, which operates as an electricity producer and energy trader throughout Europe, is expanding its customer business both at its existing location in Oslo and at a new location in Helsinki capital area with a new team. Customers in Northern and North-Eastern Europe will benefit from added expertise in tailor-made offers, market access and marketing of electricity from new renewable energies.

As a leading Swiss electricity producer, energy service provider and international energy trader, Alpiq has been present in all major European markets for many years, including Norway, Sweden and Finland. Alpiq is significantly expanding its presence and its origination expertise in these countries in light of the rapid rise in the production of power from new renewable energies, and in line with Alpiq’s corporate strategy of placing greater focus on customer business: While new staff is joining in its Oslo office, Alpiq is also opening a new location in Helsinki capital area.

Individual solutions are becoming increasingly important

The energy trade sector is becoming increasingly dynamic and complex. The supply and the number of producers of electricity from new renewable energies such as wind and photovoltaics is increasing. For this reason, risk management, market access, direct marketing and the need for individual solutions is becoming increasingly important for producers and consumers.

The Alpiq team of energy specialists from offices in Finland and Norway will meet this growing demand even better in future. The aim is to further increase the market share in the Nordic countries. The team in Finland and Norway will be competently supported by their colleagues in Switzerland.

Alpiq is part of the climate-friendly future of energy in Europe

With its flexible power plants, its own production of electricity from renewable energies and energy trading, Alpiq is already part of the climate-friendly future of energy in Europe. Alpiq is strengthening this position by expanding its presence in the Nordic countries. With its many years of experience in origination, Alpiq is supporting producers of electricity generated from new renewable energies in particular with tailored-made offers in market access, asset and risk management, flexibility marketing and cross-border trading, as well as with its expertise as a leading European provider of long-term purchase agreements (PPAs).
