Join us in shaping the future of our Trading Division as a Junior Asset Trader. You will get a great opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge to the energy markets. You will contribute to the optimization of revenue and management of the risks for the flexible power plants of Alpiq in Europe including option trading strategies.
Moreover, you'll actively manage the hedges close to delivery including fundamental view of the market and quantitative view of the optionality of the asset. Help to ensure a proper representation of all the risks in the systems and reports. From this, derive, update and execute the hedging strategy. You'll also contribute to the P&L by improving and implementing all the strategies related to day-ahead bidding of the power plants, i.e. margin price and opportunity costs assessment, cascading of the offers to the exchange, arbitrage between different countries, arbitrage between different markets (day-ahead, ancillary services, intraday). Understanding and taking into consideration all the physical specificity of the assets is key to the role. You'll collaborate strongly with Quants, Risk, Middle Office and all the other trading desks.
Your profile
- PhD in a quantitative field, mathematics, physics or similar
- Knowledge in options theory
- Good programming skills (Python, R)
- Statistical skills / Handling large set of data
- Independent and entrepreneurial
- Communication skills: team player, ability to convey ideas and present results with clarity and in a convincing way
- Fluent in English; other languages (German, Italian, Spanish) a plus

- P&L: demonstrate the added value and explain the risk/reward of the strategies, daily reporting of the performance, comments to the top management
- P&L: define a growth strategy
- Team interaction: ensure operational stability and business efficiency
