We are looking for a HR Applications Manager to join our IT Corporate team. You will act as the primary liaison between HR, IT, and Managed Service Providers (MSP), ensuring that the HR application landscape—centered around Workday—operates securely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory frameworks such as NIS2, GDPR, SOX, and IT General Controls (ITGCs). This role can be located in Prague, Paris or any other Alpiq location.
You will report directly to our Head IT Corporate and be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of HR applications ensuring seamless system integration, vendor performance, security compliance, and IT governance.
Your main responsibilities
HR Applications Management and IT Governance
- Manage Alpiq’s overarching HR application landscape, ensuring proper maintenance, configuration, and performance optimization.
- Support the global roll-out of Workday from the beginning, including system configuration, integrations, and data upload. Directly collaborate with an IT Project Manager and Business Project Manager in coordinating and deploying testing strategies worldwide for all Workday modules.
- Manage system upgrades, patches, and change management, ensuring proper testing (UAT) and approvals before deployment.
- Act as an innovation scouter, staying up to date on upcoming Workday releases (twice a year), pre-testing them in the testing tenant, and timely informing HR so that decisions on new releases can be made based on internal process needs and priorities.
- Ensure seamless integration between Workday and other enterprise applications (e.g., Learning Management Systems (Cornerstone), Payroll systems (SAP Payroll), Payroll providers, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Document Management (Adobe Sign), others.
- Enforce IT General Controls (ITGCs) related to change tracking, testing, approval workflows, and audit readiness in HR systems.
- Collaborate with IT risk and compliance teams to ensure segregation of duties (SoD), access control policies, and cybersecurity best practices in HR applications.
- Monitor system performance, vendor SLAs, and support ticket resolution to ensure continuous service improvement.
Security & Compliance (NIS2, GDPR, SOD, ITGCs)
- Ensure HR applications align with NIS2 security requirements, implementing robust access controls, authentication, and encryption.
- Work with IT security teams to implement cyber risk management, incident response plans, and regular security audits.
- Conduct risk assessments in close collaboration with IT Security. DPO, Internal Controls, External Auditors on Workday and HR systems, identifying vulnerabilities and ensuring compliance with ITGCs and audit requirements.
- Implement least privilege access, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and secure integration protocols for HR applications.
- Provide audit documentation and evidence for compliance with NIS2, GDPR, SOD, and ITGCs.
Business & IT Liaison
- Act as the primary bridge between HR, IT teams (Security, Cloud, Integration, others), and MSPs to ensure HR applications meet business and IT requirements.
- Translate HR and business needs into IT solutions, ensuring alignment with Alpiq`s corporate IT strategy.
- Support HR and business teams in adopting new HR technology features and digital transformation initiatives.
Vendor & MSP Management
- Manage IT relationships with HR applications software providers and third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with SLAs and contract terms.
- Oversee MSPs and external service providers, ensuring timely incident resolution, proactive system monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Technology (information systems, Computer Science, others related), Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- Preferably Workday certifications (Workday HCM, Workday Integrations), Workday Report Writer certificate and Project management certifications (PMP, Agile)
- 7+ years of experience managing HR applications, with Workday as the core HRIS and leading system for employee master data management.
- Proven experience of at least one full Workday project implementation—ideally a Workday full-suite global implementation in an international context.
- Familiarity with data governance, ITGCs, and regulatory compliance frameworks (NIS2, GDPR, SOD, ISO 27001, NIST
