Riein drinking water power plant

Riein drinking water power plant

The Riein drinking water power plant, which was commissioned in 2009, was constructed by the Alpiq subsidiary Alpiq EcoPower on the alp above the village of Riein (canton of Graubünden). Since then, the power station with an output of 15 kW has been supplying more than a dozen households with renewable energy. As a return service for the rights of use of this small hydroelectric power plant, Alpiq installed the electricity supply infrastructure for the municipality of Riein's alp at an altitude of more than 2,000 metres.
