The Cotlan small hydropower plant, which is located in the municipality of Rüti in the Swiss canton of Glarus, was constructed in 1936 and refurbished between 2015 and 2017. Its Kaplan turbine with an output of 2.6 MW generates electricity for the equivalent of some 3,000 households.
In terms of environmental impact, the construction and operation of the power plant are exemplary.
